Managing Director

Job Summary

To support a leading global law firm, the full-time Managing Director will oversee matter and financial management, operational leadership, and client relationship support while working in a hybrid environment based in Palo Alto or San Francisco.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee pitch and proposal activity, budgeting, and compliance with client guidelines while monitoring profitability metrics for the partner's portfolio
• Serve as the primary liaison between the partner and internal business teams, leading a multi-disciplinary team to optimize workflows
• Interact directly with clients to ensure team performance and address billing or collections issues, while providing administrative support

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of legal or law firm experience, specifically in practice management
• Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred
• Superior communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information to senior leadership
• Ability to maintain confidentiality while interacting with tact and resourcefulness
• Demonstrated leadership in planning, negotiating, and decision-making for effective management
