Job Summary
Leading a team to develop a profitable book of business, the full-time Managing Director, Excess & Surplus Casualty will oversee underwriting strategy, manage personnel, and maintain business relationships within the insurance industry.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management oversight to ensure profitable business writing and retention aligned with division objectives
- Assist underwriting personnel in analyzing risks and making sound underwriting decisions on complex risks
- Manage staffing, training, performance management, and workforce planning for the underwriting team
Required qualifications
- Ten years or more of leadership experience in underwriting, product development, or related functions
- Significant knowledge of the property and casualty industry, with a preference for surplus and specialty lines
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience; high school diploma or equivalent required
- CPCU, ASLI, ARM, or equivalent designations preferred
- Solid technical knowledge of commercial insurance forms, rates, and rules
