Managing Director of Accounting

Job Summary

To support a growing organization, the full-time salaried Managing Director of Accounting will oversee financial systems, payroll operations, and accounting practices while leading a collaborative team in a fully remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing accounting and payroll team, ensuring operational effectiveness and compliance
• Provide strategic oversight for accounting functions, preparing financial statements and collaborating on budget management
• Establish and maintain internal control policies, supporting organizational readiness during periods of growth and change

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in accounting leadership roles, preferably in nonprofit organizations; CPA designation is a plus
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. nonprofit accounting principles, payroll operations, and internal controls
• Proven track record of developing accounting systems and practices that enhance compliance and operational effectiveness
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly
• Demonstrated ability to design and improve accounting workflows and operational processes for efficiency and scalability
