Managing Engineer, Database Platform

Job Summary

Leading a team of Database Administrators and Platform Engineers, the fully remote Managing Engineer, Database Platform will oversee the technical roadmap for database services, ensuring operational excellence and scalability across on-prem and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Database Administrators/Platform Engineers, including hiring and performance reviews
• Own the technical roadmap for database platform services, focusing on improvements in scalability, availability, and performance
• Lead platform engineering tasks such as installation, configuration, automation, and capacity planning for production systems

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in database administration or data platform engineering, with 3+ years in a leadership role
• Proven experience managing production deployments in both on-premises and cloud environments
• Strong understanding of database internals, replication, sharding, and performance tuning
• Experience with automation tools and CI/CD concepts for schema migrations and platform changes
• Strong incident management experience and ability to lead technical incident response
