Managing Engineer, Database Platform

Job Summary

Leading the Database & Platform Engineering team, the full-time Managing Engineer, Database Platform will manage a team of Database Administrators and Platform Engineers, overseeing both on-prem and cloud databases while ensuring operational excellence in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of Database Administrators / Platform Engineers, focusing on hiring, performance reviews, and career development
• Own the technical roadmap for database platform services, driving improvements in scalability, availability, and performance
• Lead platform engineering work including installation, configuration, upgrades, and automation for production systems

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in database administration or data platform engineering, with at least 3 years in a people management or technical leadership role
• Proven experience managing production deployments in both on-prem and cloud environments
• Understanding of database internals, replication, sharding, and performance tuning
• Experience with automation and orchestration tools, as well as CI/CD concepts
• Strong incident management experience and ability to lead technical incident response
