Job Summary
Providing specialized technical and strategic expertise, the remote Technical and Strategic Subject Matter Expert for the NLR Marine Energy Program will support DOE H2O-sponsored projects aimed at enhancing performance, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impacts for marine energy technologies.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver strategic technical services for marine energy licensing and regulatory projects, including reviewing materials and conducting industry discussions
- Advise NLR researchers on siting, engagement, and regulatory processes related to U.S. Tidal Energy Advancement projects
- Perform additional strategic and technical advisory tasks for the NLR marine energy subprogram as needed
Required qualifications
- Expert knowledge of marine hydrokinetic permitting processes and regulatory bodies
- Proven engagement experience with remote, island, and coastal communities regarding technology adoption
- Deep understanding of energy systems and coastal ecosystems interactions, including related engineering challenges
- Demonstrated leadership and project management experience
- Experience collaborating with the Department of Energy, national laboratories, and other agencies in Ocean Economy sectors
