Marine Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer with design integration experience in shipboard mechanical systems, the full-time position offers remote work with potential travel, focusing on technical evaluations of vendor designs and assessments of system performance for research ship construction management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical evaluation of vendor proposed system designs and assess design maturity to meet operational requirements
• Write technical papers on the risks of systems meeting USCG/ABS design standards
• Perform cost estimation for proposed ship construction changes and conduct site visits for root cause analysis of shipboard failures

Required qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass and obtain a Public Trust clearance
• 4+ years' experience in the shipbuilding industry in the mechanical engineering discipline
• Knowledge of industry construction standards for mechanical systems
• Thorough understanding of ABS, USCG, and other regulatory agencies' rules regarding shipboard systems
