Job Summary
To support the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National Breastfeeding Helpline, full and part-time bilingual (Spanish) Maryland Certified Lactation Consultants will provide breastfeeding education, counseling, and referrals remotely, ensuring compassionate support for women and families nationwide.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries via phone, text, and live chat during assigned helpline hours
- Provide breastfeeding education and counseling while documenting interactions accurately
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate resources for non-breastfeeding related needs
Required qualifications
- Active International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification in good standing
- Fluency in English and experience providing breastfeeding counseling to diverse populations
- Prior experience supporting federally funded helplines or public health programs
- Experience using multi-channel communication platforms (phone, text, chat)
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive or confidential information professionally
