Job Summary
Ensuring compliance with coding standards, the full-time Maryland Certified Professional Coder will research and assign diagnostic and procedure codes, support coding staff with complex cases, and maintain current knowledge of coding regulations while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical services and professional services
- Provide support to coding staff by resolving complex coding cases and issues
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical groups to develop and implement coding guidelines
Required qualifications:
- Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
- Minimum four years of coding experience and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Associates degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or two years of relevant experience
- Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based
- High school diploma or GED is required
