Job Summary
To ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations, the full-time Maryland Certified Professional Coder will manage diagnostic and procedure coding for surgical services, assist with coding inquiries, and conduct special projects while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical and professional services
- Provide support to coding staff by resolving complex coding cases and issues
- Maintain knowledge of coding guidelines and collaborate with teams to develop coding documentation standards
Required qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
- Minimum four years of coding experience and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Associates degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or two years of relevant experience
- Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based certification
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal supervision
