Job Summary
To support coding compliance and accuracy, the full-time Maryland Certified Professional Coder will conduct diagnostic and procedure coding, handle charge review work queues, and assist in resolving complex coding issues while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical and professional services
- Provide support to coding staff by resolving complex cases and contributing to specialty-specific education materials
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical groups to develop coding and documentation guidelines that ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Required qualifications:
- Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
- Minimum four years of coding experience and knowledge of coding practices and compliance requirements
- Associate's degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or two years of related experience
- Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based certification
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required
