Maryland Certified Professional Coder

Job Summary

To support coding operations, the full-time Maryland Certified Professional Coder will ensure accurate assignment of diagnostic and procedure coding, assist in resolving complex coding issues, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards while working remotely.

Key responsibilities:

• Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical and professional services
• Provide support to coding staff by resolving complex coding cases and contributing to specialty-specific education materials
• Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to develop and implement coding and documentation guidelines

Required qualifications:

• Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
• Minimum four years of coding experience and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
• Associates degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or two years of related experience
• Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based certification
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and work independently with minimal supervision
