Job Summary
To support coding operations, the full-time Maryland Certified Professional Coder will ensure compliance with coding standards, manage complex coding cases, and assist in developing educational materials while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical services and professional services
- Provide support to coding staff by resolving complex coding issues and conducting focused reviews
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to develop and communicate coding and documentation guidelines
Required qualifications:
- Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
- At least four years of coding experience and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Associate's degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or two years of directly related experience
- Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based certification
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required
