Job Summary
To ensure compliance with coding standards, the full-time Maryland Certified Professional Coder will research and assign diagnostic and procedure codes, assist in resolving complex coding issues, and contribute to the development of educational materials while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical services and professional services
- Provide support to coding staff by resolving complex cases and conducting focused reviews of encounters
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical groups to develop coding and documentation guidelines that meet regulatory standards
Required qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
- Minimum four years of coding experience and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Associates degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or equivalent experience
- Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based certification
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required
