Job Summary
To ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations, the full-time Maryland Certified Professional Coder will manage the assignment of diagnostic and procedure coding, support coding staff, and conduct special projects while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical services and professional services
- Resolve complex coding cases and provide support to coding staff
- Maintain current knowledge of coding conventions and collaborate with clinical teams to develop documentation guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
- Minimum four years of coding experience and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Associates degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or two years of directly related experience
- Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based certification
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required
