Maryland Licensed Assistant Controller

Job Summary

Supporting the Controller in managing financial operations, the full-time Maryland Licensed Assistant Controller will oversee financial reporting, investment accounting, and reinsurance contract management in a hybrid remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely financial reporting under GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles
• Manage accounting and reporting for the investment portfolio, including preparation of investment schedules for the Annual Statement
• Administer accounting for reinsurance contracts, ensuring accurate reflection of reinsurance recoverables and payables on both GAAP and statutory bases

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a senior accounting role
• Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience in the property & casualty/auto insurance industry is preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
