Maryland Licensed Cancer Registry Specialist
Job Summary
To support the cancer program, the part-time Maryland Licensed Cancer Registry Specialist will manage the identification and abstraction of cancer-related data, ensuring compliance with various standards while working remotely after an onsite orientation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately identify, collect, and abstract comprehensive cancer-related data using Cerner and/or Mosaiq
- Interpret pathology, radiology, and treatment records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes
- Perform lifetime follow-up on cancer cases by contacting external hospitals and providers
Required Qualifications:
- Experience as an Oncology Data Specialist is required
- Knowledge of cancer registry standards, including Maryland/National Cancer Reporting Act and CoC Program Standards
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), preferably Cerner and Mosaiq
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated commitment to continued education and maintaining relevant credentials and certifications
