Job Summary

A company is looking for a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS).

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in clinical documentation improvement initiatives at the organizational level
• Communicate with physicians to clarify and obtain necessary medical record documentation
• Evaluate clinical documentation and provide daily assessments of medical records

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of clinical acute care nursing experience with knowledge of Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs), or
• Completion of Health Information Management program (RHIA) or Accredited Record Technician (RHIT) certification and 3 years of experience with Prospective Payment System (PPS) and DRG selection, or
• Experience as a consultant in medical record coding and DRG assignment
• Proficiency in computer technology and electronic health record systems
• Current licensure in the relevant state or multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement
