Job Summary
To support health information management, the full-time Maryland Licensed Inpatient Coder will code and abstract medical records for inpatients, determine diagnosis-related groupings, and assign ICD-10CM/PCS codes, all while working remotely from eligible states.
Key responsibilities
- Codes and abstracts medical records of inpatients following established conventions and guidelines
- Groups codes to determine diagnosis-related groupings (DRGs-CMS and/or APR)
- Reviews medical records to assign ICD-10CM/PCS codes to diagnoses and procedures
Required qualifications
- Formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college)
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in coding
- Certifications such as CCS or CCA with 5+ years of experience, or RHIT or RHIA
