Maryland Licensed Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support the Health Information Management Department, the full-time Maryland Licensed Outpatient Coder will code and abstract medical records for outpatient services, working onsite with a day shift commitment from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts medical records for outpatient services following established guidelines
• Assists with coding and leveling emergency room cases and infusion cases as needed
• Reviews medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10CM/PCS or CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures

Required Qualifications

• Formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college)
• One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience
• Certifications such as CCS, COC, RHIA, or RHIT are required
