Job Summary
To support building safety initiatives, the full-time or part-time Maryland Licensed Plans Examiner will examine plans for compliance with various building codes and regulations, coordinate plan reviews with public agencies, and authorize building permits as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Examine plans and specifications for completeness and conformity with building codes, including architectural, mechanical, and fire/life safety regulations
- Coordinate plan reviews with public agencies, itemizing required corrections and explaining them to permit applicants
- Authorize the issuance of building permits for compliant plans and assist the public with building regulation inquiries
Required qualifications
- ICC Building Plans Examiner, ICC Accessibility Plans Examiner, and ICC Fire Plans Examiner certifications required
- Plan Check Engineers and Plan Reviewers are highly desired
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in architectural or building plan review or equivalent
- Must possess an ICC Commercial Plans Reviewer Certification and/or Maryland Professional Engineer Registration License for commercial reviews
