Job Summary
To ensure compliance with coding standards, the full-time Maryland Licensed Professional Coder will manage the assignment of diagnostic and procedure coding for surgical services, resolve complex coding issues, and support the development of educational materials while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Research and assign HCPCS Level II codes for ambulatory surgical and professional services
- Provide support to coding staff by resolving complex cases and maintaining coding quality measures
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to develop coding and documentation guidelines
Required qualifications:
- Minimum five years of experience in a healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology
- Minimum four years of coding experience and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Associates degree in health administration, RHIT certification, or two years of related experience
- Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based certification
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required
