Seeking a Maryland Licensed Staff Attorney to join the Legal Defense Fund in a full-time remote role, responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in legal proceedings while collaborating with leadership and community partners to advance civil rights objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Perform legal research and draft legal documents, including court filings and memorandums
- Represent clients during FBI interrogations and assist trial attorneys with litigation processes
- Engage in alternative dispute resolution and participate in educational sessions on civil rights issues
Required qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Minimum of 3 years' prior associate-level experience in civil rights
- Basic knowledge of federal court practice
- No disciplinary actions on record or pending
- Understanding of civil rights issues relating to American Muslims
