Job Summary
To support hospital coding needs, the per diem Massachusetts Licensed Inpatient Coder will review medical records for accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures, utilizing ICD-10 CM and PCS codes, and will work remotely for up to 30 hours per week with flexible scheduling and weekend coverage preferred.
Key responsibilities
- Verifies and abstracts clinical data from patient records, ensuring documentation is complete before coding
- Assigns ICD-10 CM and PCS codes accurately based on medical record documentation and manages deficiencies within Epic
- Collaborates with leadership on denial reports and participates in audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Three years of experience in ICD-10-CM and PCS coding
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to conduct training during business hours (6 AM to 6 PM EST, M-F)
