Job Summary

Reviewing designs of aerospace hardware, the part-time hourly Materials Engineer will evaluate compliance with military specifications and develop non-standard part approval requests while working remotely for a 6-month contract.

Key responsibilities
  • Evaluate aerospace hardware designs for compliance with military specifications such as MIL-STD-11991
  • Review electrical and electronic equipment designs, including circuit card assemblies and electromechanical assemblies
  • Develop non-standard part approval requests (NSPARs) for Department of Defense organizations
Required qualifications
  • Three years of experience working with MIL-STD-11991 requirements
  • Strong understanding of aerospace disciplines, including corrosion control and flammability control
  • Expertise in composites and materials (2-4 years) and a strong background in metallics (6+ years)
  • Prior experience interpreting manufacturer datasheets and Bill of Materials
  • A degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Physics is highly recommended
