Job Summary
Reviewing designs of aerospace hardware, the part-time Materials Engineer will evaluate compliance with military specifications, focusing on electrical and electronic equipment designs, while working remotely for a 6-month contract position.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate aerospace hardware designs for compliance with MIL-STD-11991
- Review electrical and electronic equipment designs, including circuit card assemblies and electromechanical assemblies
- Develop non-standard part approval requests (NSPARs) for Department of Defense organizations
Required qualifications
- 3 years of experience working with MIL-STD-11991 requirements
- Strong understanding of aerospace disciplines, including corrosion and flammability control
- Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Physics
- 6+ years of background in metallic materials and 2-4 years in composites
- Experience interpreting manufacturer datasheets and source control drawings
