Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary

To support the design and delivery of an advanced Reactor Air Cooling (RAC) System for a next-generation nuclear energy project, the contract RAC System Design Engineer (Mechanical) will work remotely, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical systems, maintain design documentation, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design nuclear and industrial mechanical systems, including requirements development and engineering analyses
• Develop and maintain system architecture and design documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to evaluate equipment development requirements and manage technical interfaces with suppliers

Required qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 6+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience for Level 10 or 10+ years for Level 11
• Experience designing complex mechanical systems or pressure vessels
• Strong understanding of configuration management principles and design control processes
• Experience supporting engineering activities under quality programs such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001
