Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a contract basis, the Mechanical Design Engineer will provide design engineering support for valve design, manufacturing, and testing in the nuclear energy sector, managing the entire design lifecycle from specifications to procurement oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the analysis, design, and testing of mechanical components for existing BWR fleets and BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactors
• Partner closely with sourcing teams and external fabricators to provide comprehensive technical and manufacturing support
• Prepare and present formal design reviews and technical reports to both internal and external stakeholders

Required qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in the energy sector, preferably with a nuclear focus
• A minimum of 2 years of experience interfacing with customers, regulators, and suppliers
• Experience with 3D CAD for generating technical drawings and design documentation
• Familiarity with ASME, AWS, and BWRVIP standards
