Job Summary
Seeking a remote freelance Mechanical Simulation Engineer proficient in OpenFOAM and/or OpenSees, who will develop and run CFD simulations, execute structural analysis models, and validate results against benchmarks while working 10-40 hours per week.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, configure, and run CFD simulations using OpenFOAM for fluid flow and multiphysics problems
- Build and execute nonlinear structural and seismic analysis models using OpenSees
- Validate simulation results against experimental data and document methodologies for stakeholders
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural/Civil Engineering, or a closely related field; M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred
- Proficiency with OpenFOAM for CFD applications and/or OpenSees for structural analysis
- Strong understanding of continuum mechanics and finite element methods
- Experience working in Linux environments and using scripting tools like Python or Bash
- Ability to interpret simulation results and produce well-organized technical documentation
