Job Summary
To support advanced modeling and simulation projects, the part-time hourly Mechanical Simulation Engineer will develop and run CFD simulations using OpenFOAM and execute nonlinear structural analysis models with OpenSees, all in a fully remote contract role.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, configure, and run CFD simulations using OpenFOAM for various engineering problems
- Build and execute nonlinear structural and seismic analysis models using OpenSees
- Validate simulation results against experimental data and document methodologies clearly
Required qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural/Civil Engineering, or a closely related field (B.Eng. minimum; M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency with OpenFOAM and/or OpenSees
- Strong understanding of continuum mechanics and finite element methods
- Experience working in Linux environments and using scripting tools (Python, Bash, or Tcl)
- Able to interpret simulation results with engineering judgment and produce technical documentation
