Medical Billing Appeal Writer

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Medical Billing Appeal Writer will support the Revenue Cycle Appeal team by reviewing denied and underpaid claims, preparing and submitting formal appeals, and managing the appeal process with payors.

Key responsibilities

• Review Explanation of Benefits and denial letters to classify appeals and gather necessary documentation
• Write formal appeals based on specific account information and payor guidelines
• Follow up with payors regarding the status of appeals and identify potential workflow improvements

Required qualifications

• Fluency in English
• Minimum of one year of advanced medical billing experience
• At least one year of experience with formal appeal writing for Commercial Insurances
• Knowledge of healthcare billing procedures and third-party payer regulations
• High school diploma, GED, or significant relevant work experience
