Medical Billing Specialist

Job Summary

Handling various payment collection activities, the full-time Medical Billing Specialist will conduct collection efforts on appealed claims, communicate with insurance plans, and manage billing issues while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct collection activity on appealed claims by contacting government agencies and third-party payers
• Communicate with insurance plans and research health plans for benefits and coverage types
• Review contracts to identify billing or coding issues and request necessary re-bills or corrections

Required qualifications

• Thorough understanding of the revenue cycle process, including patient access and billing procedures
• Full understanding of Managed Care collections and related terminology
• Knowledge of Managed Care contracts and federal/state requirements
• Intermediate understanding of hospital billing form requirements (UB04 and HCFA 1500)
• Experience in medical claims and/or hospital collections
