Medical Billing Specialist

Job Summary

To support the Surgery Center's billing operations, the part-time Medical Billing Specialist will manage coding accuracy, oversee billing processes, and follow up on patient accounts while working remotely in the Charlotte area.

Key responsibilities

• Review medical records for documentation accuracy and assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes
• Oversee all billing processes, including primary/secondary billing and necessary claim edits
• Handle follow-up on billed accounts to collect owed balances and resolve denials efficiently

Required qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate degree or coding certification preferred
• 2-5 years of experience in a medical environment, preferably in surgical settings
• Thorough knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes and experience with EMR systems
• Strong typing skills and significant computer experience, including Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of billing rules and regulations for government and commercial payers required
