Medical Billing Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare practice, the full-time Medical Billing Specialist will post medical charges and payments, verify insurance information, and manage claims processing in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Post medical charges, payments, and journal entries to patient accounts accurately and timely
• Verify insurance filing information and follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle
• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper processing

Required qualifications

• Experience in medical billing and charge entry
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid
• Familiarity with electronic remittance advice (ERA) and explanation of benefits (EOB)
• Ability to handle protected health information in compliance with HIPAA
• Credentialing knowledge is a plus
