Supporting the coding needs of a busy medical practice, the full-time remote Medical Coding Specialist will perform medical record coding activities, assign diagnostic codes, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.
Key responsibilities
- Abstract relevant clinical and demographic information to assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes accurately
- Maintain a coding accuracy of 97% based on internal quality assurance reviews
- Collaborate with medical staff to gather necessary diagnostic information and update coding procedures
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a course in medical record technology
- Minimum one year of medical coding experience required; three years preferred
- Applicable certification preferred
