Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a high-volume coding environment, the full-time Medical Coding Specialist will assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for various ambulatory encounters while working remotely and adhering to official coding guidelines and payer policies.

Key responsibilities:

• Assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes for ambulatory encounters in accordance with official coding guidelines
• Resolve coding-related claim rejections and denials by reviewing payer responses and applying corrected codes or modifiers
• Maintain coding accuracy at or above client-defined thresholds and meet daily productivity targets

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of medical coding experience
• Current coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA preferred
• Expert command of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier rules
• Familiarity with encoder tools and EHR/PMS systems
