Medical Insurance Accounts Receivable Specialist

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the timely collection of outstanding healthcare insurance receivables, the full-time Medical Insurance Accounts Receivable Specialist will work remotely to verify patient eligibility, update insurance information, and conduct research on unpaid claims.

Key responsibilities

• Verifies patient eligibility and authorization for healthcare services through various methods, including payer websites and phone calls
• Researches and statuses unpaid or denied claims, contacting payers to secure payments and resolving billing issues
• Follows compliance guidelines and maintains accurate documentation in alignment with HIPAA and other applicable laws

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least two years of experience in healthcare insurance accounts receivable follow-up
• Experience with billing errors, claims resubmission, and payment follow-up
• Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and medical business office procedures
• Proficiency in accounts receivable software and Microsoft Office applications
