Job Summary

To ensure timely collection of outstanding healthcare insurance receivables, the full-time Medical Insurance AR Specialist will verify patient eligibility, update insurance information, and conduct research on unpaid claims while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient eligibility and authorization for healthcare services through various methods, including payer websites and direct communication with insurance carriers
• Conduct research on unpaid or denied claims and monitor claims for missing information, ensuring adherence to timely filing deadlines
• Contact payers to secure payment of claims and prepare appeal letters for technical appeals as necessary

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least two years of experience in healthcare insurance accounts receivable follow-up, particularly with government or commercial payers
• Experience in identifying billing errors, resubmitting claims, and following up on payment discrepancies
• Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and medical business office procedures
• Demonstrated ability to navigate accounts receivable software and communicate effectively with payers
