Medical Records Abstractor

Job Summary

To support efficient medical record management, the part-time Medical Records Abstractor will perform data abstraction and verification of medical charts remotely, ensuring accuracy and completeness of patient information.

Key responsibilities

• Cross-check patient demographics for accurate identification
• Search computerized medical records for relevant patient histories and documentation
• Ensure correct data entry and accurate tracking of chart completion times

Required qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in clinical data abstraction and coding, or 3+ years as a healthcare professional
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred (e.g., Epic, Athena, Cerner)
• High school diploma and/or GED certificate required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a home office environment
