Job Summary
Supporting physical archive management activities, the full-time Metadata Librarian will focus on document consolidation and coordination with a federal library to inventory, evaluate, and manage archival holdings in a hybrid remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Support cataloging, evaluation, consolidation, and disposition of the agency's physical archive holdings, including various media types
- Review and inventory contents of records to prepare them for transfer to appropriate records retention centers
- Create or update standards-compliant catalog metadata and ensure proper linkage of publications to archival holdings
Required qualifications
- MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution
- Experience with various databases and specialized systems related to library technical services
- Knowledge of library and data science best practices and standards-based metadata
- Ability to lift boxes of media weighing more than 40 pounds
