Meteorological Modeling Research Scientist

Job Summary

To support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's Environmental Data Enterprise, the full-time remote Meteorological Modeling Research Scientist will enhance numerical weather prediction and atmospheric transport modeling capabilities using advanced AI and machine learning techniques.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and implement AI-driven methods for processing meteorological data
• Conduct research to improve model inputs for atmospheric transport and dispersion models
• Participate in the validation of numerical weather prediction models within the atmospheric transport context

Required qualifications:

• Master's degree with 6 years of experience or Ph.D. with 3 years of experience in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Data Science, or related fields
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
• Proven experience in developing AI/ML models for scientific applications
• Strong background in numerical weather prediction and atmospheric modeling
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with scientific computing libraries
