Job Summary
Combining expertise in boundary-layer meteorology and software development, the full-time Meteorology Software Developer will operationalize weather models to produce high-resolution forecasts for power lines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and refine atmospheric models focusing on boundary layer physics and localized forecasting along power lines
- Integrate numerical weather prediction models and AI-based systems to enhance forecast accuracy and reliability
- Collaborate with data science teams to merge physics-based models with machine learning approaches and document methodologies
Required qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Physics, or a related field, or a B.S. with substantial operational experience
- In-depth understanding of boundary-layer meteorology and experience with numerical weather prediction models
- Proficiency in Python and experience with large environmental datasets and time-series analysis
- Experience with gridded data formats such as GRIB2 and NetCDF
- U.S. citizenship due to ITAR regulations and Government contract requirements
