Michigan Licensed Fire Safety Inspector

Job Summary

Ensuring compliance with fire safety codes and standards, the full-time Michigan Licensed Fire Safety Inspector will conduct inspections and enforce regulations across Wayne, Macomb, Oakland, Livingston, and Washtenaw counties while working onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct fire safety inspections of state facilities, institutions, and businesses to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation of inspections and findings
• Collaborate with local fire departments and regulatory agencies to address fire safety concerns

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of experience as a firefighter, law enforcement officer, or corrections officer
• Michigan Fire Inspector certification or NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I credentials
• Valid driver's license
• Experience conducting inspections with a municipal fire department or in related fields may substitute for some experience requirements
