Job Summary
Ensuring compliance with fire safety codes and regulations, the full-time Michigan Licensed Fire Safety Inspector will conduct inspections of medical and adult use cannabis facilities across the Greater Lansing area, primarily working with the Cannabis Regulatory Agency.
Key responsibilities
- Perform inspections of complex medical and recreational cannabis facilities to ensure adherence to fire safety standards
- Collaborate with the Cannabis Regulatory Agency and assist the Bureau of Fire Services in inspecting other state-regulated facilities as needed
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable fire safety codes, standards, and state laws relevant to cannabis operations
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience as a firefighter, law enforcement officer, or corrections officer
- Michigan Fire Inspector certification or NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I credentials
- Valid driver's license
- Experience conducting inspections with a municipal fire department or related field may substitute for some experience requirements
