Michigan Licensed Fire Safety Inspector

Job Summary

Ensuring compliance with fire safety codes and regulations, the full-time Michigan Licensed Fire Safety Inspector will conduct inspections of medical and adult use cannabis facilities across the Greater Lansing area, primarily working with the Cannabis Regulatory Agency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections of complex medical and recreational cannabis facilities to ensure adherence to fire safety standards
• Collaborate with the Cannabis Regulatory Agency and assist the Bureau of Fire Services in inspecting other state-regulated facilities as needed
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable fire safety codes, standards, and state laws relevant to cannabis operations

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of experience as a firefighter, law enforcement officer, or corrections officer
• Michigan Fire Inspector certification or NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I credentials
• Valid driver's license
• Experience conducting inspections with a municipal fire department or related field may substitute for some experience requirements
