Job Summary
Analyzing and coding inpatient medical records, the full-time Michigan Licensed Inpatient Coder will accurately assign ICD10-CM, ICD10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes while meeting productivity standards and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze medical records to determine coding and abstraction needs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines
- Assign and enter appropriate ICD10-CM, ICD10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes based on established standards
- Communicate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists to clarify record information for correct code assignment
Required qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information, or CCS certification with a minimum of 2 years coding experience
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required
- One to three years' experience using ICD10-CM and ICD10-PCS coding systems
- Demonstrated ability to meet productivity and quality standards
