Michigan Licensed Surgical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

The full-time Michigan Licensed Surgical Coding Specialist will ensure timely and accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses related to orthopaedics while working remotely after initial onsite training.

Key responsibilities

• Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes to procedures based on provider documentation and bundling edits
• Verify insurance information and enter charges into the practice management system
• Communicate with providers regarding surgeries and assist with coding consults as needed

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of orthopaedic surgical coding or professional coding certification
• Experience with general orthopedic coding, including sports medicine and total joint replacement
• Experience working with multiple third-party payers, including commercial insurances
• High School Diploma/GED
• Preferred: Graduate of a Medical Coding program
