Microfocus COBOL Developer

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Microfocus COBOL Developer, the full-time position focuses on enhancing mission-critical Point-of-Sale and batch processing systems in a healthcare environment, requiring expertise in COBOL, CICS, Oracle, and JCL.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise applications
• Optimize existing COBOL programs for performance and scalability while providing on-call support and resolving production incidents
• Collaborate with business analysts and PBM operations teams to ensure effective implementation of pharmacy benefit management workflows

Required qualifications:

• At least 8 years of COBOL programming experience and 5+ years in pharmacy benefit management (PBM) domain
• Proficient in Microfocus COBOL, CICS, JCL, and Oracle, preferably in a Linux environment
• Strong understanding of pharmacy claims adjudication, prior authorization, and formulary management
• Experience with complex SQL statements and database management
• Ability to work collaboratively within a project team and effectively communicate with business users
