Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a contract-to-hire basis, the Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer will optimize and stabilize a recently implemented enterprise data platform, focusing on the full data lifecycle from ingestion to reporting while collaborating with internal teams to establish best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and stabilize a Microsoft Fabric environment, resolving data pipeline and refresh issues
• Optimize and refactor Power BI semantic models for improved performance and structure
• Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to provide knowledge transfer and recommend improvements in data architecture and pipeline performance

Required qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, pipelines, and dataflows
• Strong expertise in Power BI, particularly in semantic modeling and performance tuning
• Proficiency in PySpark/Spark notebooks and SQL
• Experience troubleshooting pipeline failures and data inconsistencies
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly
