Job Summary

To support the Billing Department, the part-time Dedicated Authorization Specialist will manage prior authorizations and medical necessity requirements for outpatient tests, treatments, and inpatient admissions, primarily working remotely with some on-site responsibilities in Hibbing, MN.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate prior authorizations for outpatient tests, treatments, and inpatient admissions as required by payers
• Obtain pre-certifications for all inpatient and outpatient surgeries and manage workers' compensation cases
• Maintain current knowledge of insurance requirements and ensure timely and accurate entry of medical insurance information

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in a related healthcare field, such as Patient Access and/or Billing
• Experience with computer systems, phone etiquette, and customer service
