Job Summary
To support the Housing Court, the full-time salaried Minnesota Licensed Judicial Referee will preside over hearings, manage case calendars, and make legal determinations while working both onsite and remotely at the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis.
Key responsibilities
- Presides over assigned hearings and cases, managing calendars and maintaining order in proceedings
- Evaluates evidence, rules on objections, and prepares findings and orders in accordance with judicial standards
- Acts as a liaison with partner agencies and the community, providing presentations on legal matters
Required qualifications
- Must be a licensed attorney in the State of Minnesota
- A combined five years of experience as an attorney or judicial officer
- Must be in good standing with no disciplinary actions in the past five years
- Extensive knowledge of court procedures, rules of evidence, and trial procedures
- Ability to handle a large volume of cases and issue timely decisions
